Thumbs up it’s Thursday
Every Thursday, Kingston town centre is packed with free activities for kids through the wonderful Kingston First initiative Thumbs up it’s Thursday. Face-painting, arts, crafts, theatre, boat trips – it is a day packed with fun for kids and relief for parents!
Canbury Gardens for picnics
Canbury Gardens is a great place to picnic with riverside views and let the kids run around. With a pavilion, playground and tennis courts there’s plenty of green space to enjoy. It’s just 1 minute walk from Turk’s Pier so you can easily pick up a boat trip.
Kingston Riverside Walk
Head towards the market place and there’s a retro milkshake parlour Shake Away – perfect bribery! Then take a stroll through the newly revamped market place where there is a buzzing atmosphere and invariably different entertainment happening.
There is an enviable choice of shops including many interesting independents along the side streets. Cath Kidson, The White Company, Jack Wills and Jo Jo Mama Bebe are just some of the high quality names you will find around the marketplace. Eden Walk see’s many teenage girls favourites with H&M and, Primark. The Bentall’s Centre is packed with well known high street shops – including Build a Bear.
And when you are looking for something more relaxing than shopping, there’s Turks – our beautiful boats waiting to transport you along the river! In just 35 minutes you can be cruised to Hampton Court Palace. See timetable
